  1. It's really only Easter and Christmas that are quite that extra with lots of stuff closed.

  2. Hey there Alyssa I really love yours and Heath's videos, great work….I'm originally from Auckland, NZ, now living in Brisbane, Australia..you're both awesome

  3. We Belgians also "celebrate" Easter Monday.

  4. Public holidays are Monday-ised which means if it falls on a sunday, you also get the monday off work as a public holiday. We take holidays and vacation leave very seriously compared to some other places around the world. Creates happy people 🙂

  5. I remember my first Christmas here, I was use to snowy Christmases, well, here in New Zealand it is summer and WOW, it was hot. Took me awhile to get use to having the seasons opposite of back home but I am better now. ☺️

  6. Quick dumb question! How'd you guys do your laundry during your new Zealand trip?super great vids BTW, been bugging my wife that we should go do what you guys did ASAP but she just shooo's me away and points at our newborn… Sigh… Haha

  7. So what you re saying is do some research? Proper research.

  8. people are really anal about preventing commercial interests turning public holidays into shopping days where retail workers wil be forced to work, so yeah, no one works. That's fair.
But it does mean you have to plan ahead. Christmas period is like this two. Christmas day and the day following it are public holidays and everything is closed. So ensure you have enough food and drinks to carry you through!
Air NZ flies between LA and Auckland everyday, and its a 12 hour direct flight (air NZ also fly to san fran daily- I think Houston is another direct route they go)- When I went to LA and returned to NZ both flights left at night. A 12 hour direct flight is not too painful. AiNZ offer really cheap deals at certain times of the year, so its worth checking their website.

  9. Thanks for the tips! After watching your videos we WILL be going to New Zealand! Our only question is what other countries can we do this in??

  10. How are the drone laws there? I was debating on bringing my drone but I found a few pages saying that they are very strict. Any tips would be awesome. Love your content! My fiance and I are visiting New Zealand in September.

  11. Book it all online as well, you will save a lot of money,no middle man/woman to pay.

  12. As a New Zealander, I always smile when I see and read comments about long haul air travel – we are so used to it – Whenever we travel we always know we in for many hours in a plane because we are so far from everywhere!

I've loved your videos Heath and Alyssa – when do you return home?

  13. Nice channel ! We subscribe ! 😄

  14. SO glad to hear that not all of the countries in this fallen world haven't given up on God. Great tips video, thanks.

  15. Highly recommend a layover in Hawaii and then on to New Zealand! Our daughter and son-in-law live in Hawaii and flew us to take care of their two little girls while they flew to New Zealand. They also highly recommend a trip to New Zealand.

  16. Fabulous video recording! Right here at Y&S FOOD! we really like to check out this kind of content. We produce Travel & Food films as well, world-wide, so we are frequently seeking for inspirations and perhaps techniques. Thank You.

  17. Dairies, or corner store thingies, are usually open and service stations are too, over Easter. The Tuesday is usually an extra day off for schools, so some work places take the time off too. Sadly for me, coz I work in a post shop/office /kiwibank/lotto /book store, I had to work 🙂

  18. You are so cute and fun to watch Alyssa😊 Great video! I've so enjoyed watching your guys adventures while in new zeland it's literally sparked this intense desire in me to just go for it, get over there and make it happen. Travel is my top priority in life, well next to good health and being able to provide for myself but its something I truly value and am looking forward to visiting one day in my future. I love all of your tips. I use AMEX most of the time anyway so I may as well switch to a miles card, very smart. Lovely tips and how crazy about Easter weekend plus that flight sounds eery!!
